Usage:
Call a target... "spike in three, two, one..." cast obs flame, shadow step to target using shadow walk (eliminates all forms of after cast), use shockwave. Target dies.

Use Death's charge + shock wave to kill foes, while shadow walk is recharging. (you can kill them about 90% of the time)

Try it out and post your opinions...

The spike looks very powerfull.

Did u made this build?


Edit: i rly doubt that ull need the 10 in shadow arts.

621 Dmg from Shocwkave, assuming they ALL (9 packets of 69 Dmg) hit a 60AL target without any armor + buff.

390 Dmg (Armor ignoring tough) spike from obs flame...

You won't kill jack shit, srry

1 rof = monk lives + ob flame won't kill anyways

bah, this has been around for a long time. I have seen this in HA, good for farming first 3 maps, than fails...

well, powerfull if timed propely, but 20 seconds for a spike... bad.
and overusing obs... exhuastion is bad, i would switch obs, flame for mag. surge.

Your wrong... I tryed it in TA and we rolled people. One of our E/As lagged out so it was just 2 E/A on the spike... still rolled people. Our monk left the match because he had homework so it was 2v4... Still rolled people. Who's the noob now???

it has a 15 sec recharge time... Remember, it is TA. It doesn't take that long to spike out 4 people every 15 seconds.

Using the shockwave spike versus an AL 70 (+10 vs earth shield) will do 522 damage. How did you roll people with it?

lol thats shockwave + obsidian, that spike only works against nooby caky balled up teams with no monks or bad monks

Ok, you're telling me that in TA, assuming you DON'T encounter RA teams, you can spikebody down with 2 Spikers?

Let me FULLY lay out Dmg right here:

Shockwave: We assume they are within "Adjecent" range AND that every Elementalist has "Glyph of Elemental Power" on him.

60AL: 207 Earth Damage
80AL: 147 Earth Damage
100AL: 102 Earth Damage
83AL*: +-145 Earth Damage
*: 60AL + 5AL +8AL +10AL: Monk with +5 Armor on Spear, +8 From Shield and +vs. Earth Damage inscription)

Total:
60AL: 621 Earth Damage
80AL: 441 Earth Damage
100AL: 306 Earth Damage
83AL: 435 Earth Damage

Obsidian Flame: We assume that every Elementalist has "Glyph of Elemental Power" on him and none of them get interrupted (Just so you know, ATLEAST 1 will always get inerrupted)

XXAL: 130 Damage (Armor Ignoring)

Total:
XXAL: 390 Damage (Armor Ignoring)

IF you manage to find a team who DON'T have a monk without ANY armor buffs, shields (A bad monk in other words), you will do 621 Damage. This is about 10 Damage overkill to drop a monk with HP +60 and ALL minor runes and survivor insignia's... (Monks usually have bit more tough: 650+, just spitting out a random number)

Even then, chances are VERY small you'll kill him, because 1 simple prot (Or Heal) which would "Divine Heal" him for 30HP will keep him alive...

So you won't kill with Shockwave, atleast not versus a half-organized team. (If you still disagree by now, just keep re-reading this post untill you do)

I'm assuming you will use an Obsidian Flame -> Shockwave Spike then...
Here, I don't have much to say:
IF you manage to kill ANYTHING with Obsidian Flame -> Jump In -> Shockwave you deserve to win. IF their monk can't catch a FULL 1 second spike (Of which the first part, the Obsidian Flames will only do 390 Damage), he shouldn't be monking in the first place.

I also ALWAYS assumed NONE of the spikers gets interrupted. You obviously have no clue how easy it is to interrupt shockwave? (Pssst, hint: Random Dshot straight after Death's Charge does the trick) I won't even start on the 2 Second Cast time on Obsidian Flame...

Sorry dude, this team MIGHT farm RA teams, but against ANY somewhat organized team, you'll loose...

Ride the lightning spike is much better than this imo, but it will still lose to decent teams.

RTL build:

a)bad
b)easy to counter
c)I don't why ppl gave it such fancy name.

maybe switch Obsidian Flame for Aftershock or some other PBAoE to go along with Shockwave. but than again it's still weak...

I have already seen this kind of spike in TA except instead of obs flame they used shock and aftershock, not very good team because the monk doesnt have any support, and besides they barely beat my RA team after they used all their rez sigs on the monk

oh yea and they used stoneflesh in their build too (easily stripped)

Ya'll should'nt tell him it's bad so they keep running it and we can keep killing them instead of facing 2 Warrior 2 Monk teams over and over and over again in battles that last 5 mins. At least it's a change of pace.

WITH THREE E/As:

Shockwave does 69 dmg X 3 = 207
There are three eles... X 3 = 621 dmg from shockwave alone.

Obsidian flame does 130 damage X 3 = 390 dmg

The spike runs like this... Obs flame, shadow walk (eliminates after cast), Shockwave...

Total Damage on spike = 390 + 621 = 1011 damage in under 1 second.

WITH TWO E/As

Shockwave does 69 dmg X 3 = 207
There are two eles... X 2 = 414 dmg from shockwave alone.

Obsidian flame does 130 damage X 2 = 260 dmg

Total Damage on spike = 414 + 260 = 674 damage in under 1 second.

I'd use glyph of concentration seeing magebane rangers are pretty common
Aren't HC monks more physical oriented? the main healing comes from vigorous spirit, no?

As stated many times in this thread already, only idiots run around in PvP with 60 armor at any high frequency. There are so many assumptions in your statements (that all 3 damage triggers from shockwave will happen, that the opposing team will do nothing during the casts of obsidian and shockwave, etc.). It makes me very curious which fantasy world you live in.

Because Shadow Walk is a stance, you can use the warp during your after cast (unlike other warps that are spells), by using this stance during your after-cast, it cancels out any after-cast you should have gotten and allows you to begin casting your next skill instantly...
If you don't believe me, try it yourself.
